During that period, around 1886 he painted especially dune landscapes and beach faces.
After this period, he shared a Studio together with Floris Arntzenius in Amsterdam until 1898. From that time on, he painted mainly River scenes around the Hague, Amsterdam and Rotterdam, which became famous for their beautiful skies.
