Icon " Guardian angel with selected saints" - Cosmas and Damian, Conon and Boniface and a consecrated saint. Mstera, late XIX - early XX cc. Wood, gesso, gold leaf, tempera. Size: 25 X 20 cm. The choice of saints depicted on the icon is very interesting and at the same time understandable. Cosmas and Damian were revered by the people as healers, guardians of livestock, chickens and blacksmithing. Saint Conon - gardener is the patron saint of all garden crops. It was believed that the prayer for the glory of St. Conon provided a plenteous yield. Saint Boniface was prayed for healing from drunkenness. In short, besides the Angelic amulet, a simple peasant in his everyday life needed the prayerful help of the most important saints - healers, patrons of agriculture and cattle breeding. Condition: without restoration, under a layer of darkened drying oil. A fine example of stylistic art of Moscow old believers icon painting.Икона "Ангел-Хранитель с избранными святыми" - Косьмой и Дамианом, Кононом и Вонифатием и приписной святой. Мстёра, конец XIX - начало ХХ в. Дерево, левкас, сусальное золото, темпера. Размер: 25Х20 см. Очень интересен и в то же время понятен выбор изображенных святых на иконе. Косьма и Дамиан - почитались в народе как врачеватели, покровители домашнего скота, кур и покровители кузнечного дела. Святой Конон градарь (огородник) - покровитель всех садовых культур. Считалось, что молитва св. Конону обеспечивает высокий урожай. Святому Вонифатию молились для исцеления от недуга пьянства. Одним словом, вместе с Ангельским оберегом простому сельскому жителю в повседневной жизни требовалась и молитвенная помощь самых важных святых - врачевателей, покровителей земледелия и скотоводства. 6. TEMPORARY IMPORTATION
6.1. Any Lot marked with a symbol “plus (+)” are “free port” and are subject to import tax.
The Buyer intending to import the aforesaid Lot into the European Union should be aware that an import tax will be due on the Hammer Price.
This import tax shall be paid to Hermitage Fine Art in addition to other fees
(e.g.: 5.5% for antiques and works of art in Monaco).
6.2. Any other Lots are in free circulation within the European Union.
6.3. The Buyer shall be responsible for checking and fulfilling all the conditions for the transportation of the Lots to their destination, including, but not limited to, checking the import status of the Lots, and the regulations for importation at destination.
2. The following lots are subject to Artist's Resale Right (an additional 3% will be added to hammer price)
