An icon "Christ Pantocrator" in a silver oklad.Volga region, Russia, late XVIII-early XIX century. Wood, gesso, tempera.Oklad: silver (without mark), chased, engraved. Size: 30X26 cm. High-quality and beautiful stylization of antiquity, executed by the old believers of the Volga region. The image of the Saviour is balanced in colors and dynamics of forms and generally reproduces the "Stroganov" shrill expression. The clay color of the face and cool tones of clothes are successfully combined with the sharp contours of the ornament and the smoothness of a "facial" painting. The silver oklad, made in the Empire style, certainly differs in tectonics from the early metal icon oklads, which were a traditional decoration for such icons. Nevertheless, the maker managed to decorate the oklad in a specific restrained archaic way. Thanks to this, the icon embodies a decorous matching of tradition and innovation. Condition: painting without restoration, deformations across the relief of the oklad, soldering on the upper side.Икона в серебряном окладе "Господь Вседержитель".Поволжье, конец XVIII-начало XIX в. Дерево, левкас, темпера. Оклад - серебро (без пробы), чеканка, гравировка. Размер: 30Х26 см.Качественная и красивая стилизация древности, очевидно выполненная старообрядцами Поволжья. Образ Спаса уравновешен с точки зрения колорита и динамики форм и в целом сохраняет ещё "строгановскую" пронзительность выражения. Удачно сочетаются глинистый цвет лика и прохладные тона одежд с острыми контурами орнамента и плавностью "личного" письма. Серебряный оклад, выполненный в стиле ампир, безусловно отличается по тектонике от ранних басменных окладов, которыми традиционно украшались подобные иконы. И тем не менее мастеру удалось выполнить убранство оклада в своеобразном сдержанном архаичном ключе. Благодаря чему икона воплощает благородное созвучие традиции и новаторства. 6. TEMPORARY IMPORTATION
6.1. Any Lot marked with a symbol “plus (+)” are “free port” and are subject to import tax.
The Buyer intending to import the aforesaid Lot into the European Union should be aware that an import tax will be due on the Hammer Price.
This import tax shall be paid to Hermitage Fine Art in addition to other fees
(e.g.: 5.5% for antiques and works of art in Monaco).
6.2. Any other Lots are in free circulation within the European Union.
6.3. The Buyer shall be responsible for checking and fulfilling all the conditions for the transportation of the Lots to their destination, including, but not limited to, checking the import status of the Lots, and the regulations for importation at destination.
