A SWISS M1899 OFFICER’S SWORD BY WEYERSBERG, SOLINGEN.
Sabre d’officier Suisse modele 1899.
Origin: Switzerland / Germany, after 1899.
Blade: slightly curved back pipe steel blade. On ricasso maker’s stamp: GEBR. WEYERSBERG / SOLINGEN, on reverse – Swiss cross in the circle.
Closed steel hilt, yelman in shape of round basket, finished one side with cylindrical finial, other side reaching the pommel, open-work cut and engraved, to include Swiss cross in middle part. Long back strap from the pommel to ring above the yelman. Grip of wood covered with a fish leather, fixed with single twisted and double straight brass wire.
Steel scabbard with two bands and carrying rings. Both bands stamped with Swiss cross in the circle.
Overall length in scabbard – 98,7 cm; overall length out of scabbard – 96 cm; blade’s length – 81,4 cm, width – 25 mm.
