A GILT AND PATINATED BRONZE FIGURAL CLOCK, EMPIRE / RESTORATION PERIOD, FRANCE 1820-1825
Origin: France, empire / restoration of the monarchy period, ca. 1820-1825.
Good quality gilt and patinated bronze clock depicting a boy leaning on the clock-case and playing flute. On other side of the case shepherd's crook and horn. Beneath the dial ormolu applique depicting cornucopias. On top - laurel wreath. On the front of the rectangular base big ormolu applique referring to gilt elements from above: shepherd's crook, musical instruments, laurel wreaths. Main elements of the clock-case made of patinated bronze, figure and decorations - gilt.
Gilt bronze dial with black Roman cyphers, black steel hands. Movement with silk suspension stamped on the backplate with cypher 7, unsigned. Movement in working order, strikes half- and full hours on a bell.
Dimensions: Height - 39 cm (approx. 15,35 in), width – 27 cm, depth – 10 cm.
