AN AUSTRO-HUNGARIAN M1869 CAVALRY OFFICER’S SWORD WITH GERMAN PRODUCED BLADE.
KuK Kavallerie-Offizierssäbel Muster 1869.
Origin: Austro-Hungarian Empire, after 1869.
Blade: steel slightly bent single edged blade with one wide fuller one (!) side. Other side – flat. Maker’s mark on ricasso: WEIERSBERG.KIRSCHBAUM / & Co. / SOLINGEN.
Closed steel hilt, yelman in shape of round basket, finished one side with cylindrical finial, other side reaching the pommel, open-work cut and engraved. Long back strap from the pommel to ring above the yelman. Grip of wood covered with a fish leather, fixed with twisted steel wire.
Scabbard missing.
Total length – 102,7 cm; length of the blade – 68,8 cm; width – 27 mm; thickness – 5,5 mm.
