A SWISS SABER AFTER FRENCH M1821 INFANTRY OFFICER’S SWORD.
Origin: Switzerland/France, after 1821.
Blade: steel slightly bent single edged blade a la Montmorency, with one wide fuller and one narrow next to the edge. Engraved decoration – Swiss cross on ground of sun rays, both sides.
Brass (originally gilt) hilt similar to the French M1821 infantry officer’s, with minor differences in details, like shape of the pommel. Knuckle bow starts with two short branches, ending at the pommel with one, short back strap. Wooden grip covered with fish skin, with double twisted brass wire. Remains of gold layer in places.
Scabbard missing.
Overall length– 86 cm, blade’s length – 71,5 cm, width – 28 mm, thickness – 7 mm.
