Todestag ehrte. - Lit.: Weltkunst 14/97, S.1521 „Siegfried Weiß „Gustav und Franz Pflugrath“, R.Negendanck „Hiddensee – Die besondere Insel für Künstler“, edition fischerhuder kunstbuch, Fischerhude 2005 - First, Franz Pflugradt, a great-great-nephew of Caspar David Friedrich, practiced the profession of a farmer. Only at the age of 27, probably on the advice of his uncle, the landscape painter Gustav Pflugradt (1828 - 1911) began studying at the Berlin Art Academy. He visited the landscape class at Eugen Bracht and Max Koner. For a few years he lived as a freelance painter in Berlin. From 1910 he lived in Stralsund, spending the summer months in Zingst and on the Darss. He is primarily considered a painter of the regional landscape. He often achieves a very atmospheric effect in his pictures. - He found before the Great Depression, many buyers for his works, he impoverished later and died destitute and lonely on December 25, 1946. Pictures of the artist are owned by the State Museum Schwerin and the Museum of Cultural History Stralsund, 1997 with an exhibition honored on the 50th anniversary of his death.
