A Victorian silver-gilt ewer and a matched stand James & Josiah Williams, Exeter 1865, the stand Hamilton & Inches, Edinburgh 1873 With spreading baluster form neck over a bulbous body, hinged dome cover with fruiting vine finial, leaf embellished handle, the whole profusely embossed and chased with acanthus and scrolls, flanking the cartouche to the front are two applied Charioteering scenes in high relief, with four female figures to each scene being drawn by four horses, on a shaped-circular lobed foot, the circular stand with bellied sides with acanthus panels, the rim below with applied flower heads and beads, height overall 45.8cm, weight 62.5oz.
