A BRONZE 'ELEPHANT HEADS' ARCHAISTIC VESSEL Qing Dynasty Raised on tripod feet formed as elephant heads terminating in ruyi heads, the body with lappet and diamond pattern decoration, the rim set with two rope-twist handles, the interior inscribed zi zisun sun yong. 26cm (10 1/4in) high Footnotes: ęø… éŠ…č”å¤©č€³č±”č¶³ēˆ ć€Šå­å­å­«å­«ē”Øć€‹ę¬¾ Provenance: An English private collection prior to 1976, described in a letter of that date from Professor Roderick Whitfield of the British Museum. The inscription on this vessel is based on the formula found on Shang dynasty bronzes, zi zisun sungyonbao yong (子子孫孫ę°øåƶē”Ø) 'may sons and grandsons ever treasure and use'.
