JOSEPH CREMER - 1811-1878, A two body cabinet, Napoleon III (1848-1870), oak structure, lower body veneered in ebony and other woods with tortoiseshell marquetry, green stained tortoiseshell and gilded brass, upper body with marquetry in various woods "Landscape with animals" and "Trophies", gilt bronze applications, French, minor faults and defects, structure with traces of woodworms, one of the side glasses replaced by acrylic, signed and dated 1851, sides with inscriptions EXPOSITION DE LONDRES 1851 and CREMER A PARIS 1851. Notes: the present piece of furniture was part of the 1851 London Exhibition. Vd. LEDOUX-LEBARD, Denise - "Le Mobilier Français du XIX? Siècle - Dictionnaire des énénistes et des Menuisiers". Paris. Les éditions de l'amateur, 1989, pp. 136-138. a) This lot is subject to CITES export/import restrictions and is duly certified: nr 23PTLX04807C; b) The import of goods incorporating materials from protected wild fauna and flora species, including, among others, ivory, coral and tortoiseshell is currently prohibited by several countries; c) In Portugal, according to the forecast transposition into the Portuguese legislation of the more recent EU guidance document concerning ivory commerce, the issuing of reexport certifications for non EU countries is suspended; d) We therefore advise potential buyers to inform themselves in advance on the applicable legislation, in particular the customs regulations in force in the countries concerned., Dim. - 241 x 210 x 55 cm
